Loretta “Ronnie” Ann Shrum, 83, of Locust Grove, passed from this life on Monday, June 1, 2020 in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was born on March 13, 1937 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Ed Sunday and Lucy England. She married Arlis Shrum on December 28, 1954 in Salina, Oklahoma. Together, they had 3 children: Gary, Debra “Debi”, and Alan. She provided care to many as an LPN, including several dear friends. Family was the most important part of Ronnie’s life. She treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Locust Grove Order of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church of Locust Grove. She was incredibly firm in her faith and loved her church family, Sunday school class, and special friends. She volunteered many hours at the church food pantry and church events. Ronnie enjoyed feeding and watching the birds from her patio, gardening, and traveling. Her animals held a special place in her heart. Ronnie was a such a special woman to so many people; she will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Graveside services will be held for Ronnie at Bryan Chapel Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2020 with Pastor Kathy Morris and Reverend Bob Hopkins officiating. The family is conscious that not all will be able or comfortable convening given the current environment regarding COVID-19. They encourage friends and family to adhere to guidance on social distancing and masks for the service and understand that some may not be comfortable attending. A Celebration of Life will be held on a future date at the First United Methodist Church of Locust Grove when it is safer to convene a larger group indoors. Ronnie is survived by her children, Gary Shrum of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Debi Wagner of Caney, Kansas, and Alan Shrum of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Ed Sunday Jr. of Owasso, Oklahoma; sister, Wanda (Bob) Hopkins of Haskell, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Rachelle Newcomb of Caney, Kansas, Becky (Justin) McDonald of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Deana (John) Around Him of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Ashlyn (Matt Taylor) and Sydney Newcomb, Mackenzie Redding, Parker McDonald, and Logan Around Him, great great grandchild Bjorn Taylor, and a host of extended relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Lucy; husband, Arlis; sister, Rebecca Clay; brother, Loren Sunday; and great great grandson Matthias Newcomb.
