Louise Smith

Louise (Deffenbaugh) Smith, 87, of Pryor, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Tulsa. She was born on March 8, 1929 in Pryor; the daughter of Fred and Grace (Boan) Deffenbaugh. Louise graduated from Mindemines High School in 1947 and went on to marry the love of her life, Wayne Smith on August 12, 1948. They traveled and lived in many different places, including, Petaluma, California and Fairbanks and Anchorage, Alaska and back to Pryor. She worked in the accounting field most of her life, and was employed by Peat Marwick Mitchell from 1959 to 1984. Louise also worked at the Book Exchange in Pryor for many years, and retired in 2011. She was a member of the First Christian Presbyterian Church in Pryor and when she was able, looked forward to helping in the kitchen every Thursday evening for the Community Dinners. Louise also enjoyed going on Bus Trips with her sister, Mary. Louise looked forward to having Monday Night dinners at Pam and Gary's house, with the grandkids, especially if Gary was cooking burgers or his famous pancakes made from scratch, her favorite. She loved to watch football, jeopardy on television, work crossword puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with those she loved and cherished each moment she had with them. She leaves behind so many wonderful memories and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in the First Christian Presbyterian Church in Pryor with Reverend Anna Hubbard officiating. She is survived by her nephews, Gary Buffington and wife Pam of Pryor, Oklahoma, Dennis Deffenbaugh and wife Vicky of Langley, Oklahoma, Paul Deffenbaugh and wife Donna of Claremore, Oklahoma, Steve Deffenbaugh and wife Sandy of Claremore, Oklahoma, Dale Deffenbaugh and wife Misty of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mike Mitchell and wife Peggy of Pheonix, Arizona; nieces, Sharon Buffington of Georgia, Cathy Palmer and husband Dink of Adair, Oklahoma, Misty Bingham and husband Dale of Vinita, Oklahoma, Linda Bruce of Hawaii, Katie Walker and husband Jimmy of Wichita, Kansas, Neva Engels and husband Dale of Wichita, Kansas and Nancy Harris and husband John of Claremore, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Smith and parents, Fred and Grace Deffenbaugh; and 5 nieces.
