Lucille Alice Newhouse Obituary (2023) - Pryor, Oklahoma (gather.app)
Lucille Alice Newhouse, a remarkable woman whose life spanned over a century, has passed away at the age of 101 and a half. She was born on June 23, 1922, in Plad, Missouri, and peacefully departed this world on December 29, 2023, in Pryor, Oklahoma. Lucille's journey was one of resilience and compassion. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her kind nature and unwavering faith. From an early age, Lucille knew the significance of family and commitment. On June 15, 1941, she married John R. Newhouse in Carson City, Nevada. Their bond was a testament to love's enduring power. Lucille had a profound love for God and dedicated time each day to connect with Him. Her faith guided her actions as she carried out her mission to spread compassion and support to those who needed it most. Lucille's heart overflowed with love and prayers for everyone whom God brought into her life. One of Lucille's favorite ways to spread joy was through the art of baking pies, cookies and chocolate turtles. These sweet treats became more than just desserts; they were tokens of encouragement that she lovingly shared with others. Lucille firmly believed in creating lasting memories with those she held dear. In her later years, Lucille resided in the Pryor area after moving from Hominy, Oklahoma. Witnessing the advancements of the world around her amazed her greatly; from growing up during times when horse-drawn carriages were a common sight to witnessing the marvels of space travel. Lucille’s indomitable spirit shone through even in the face of adversity. At the tender age of 7, Lucille survived a devastating house fire that left an indelible mark on her young life. She also endured the challenges brought by the Great Depression at just 8 years old, displaying strength and resilience beyond her tender years. At age 19, Lucille found herself in Long Beach, California when Pearl Harbor was attacked. The world was forever changed, and Lucille witnessed history unfolding before her eyes. Lucille's entrepreneurial spirit led her to become a business owner at the age of 27, opening the Ben Franklin Store in Hominy, Oklahoma. Through hard work and determination, she created an establishment that served as a hub for community connections and long-lasting friendships. The impact Lucille had on those around her cannot be measured. Her loving presence brought comfort, joy, and hope to countless lives. She lived a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Though Lucille's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
