Maggie Kingfisher, 82, of Salina, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Salina, Oklahoma. She was born on December 18, 1930 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma; the daughter of Nelson and Sarah (Sanders) Ballou. Maggie married Steve Kingfisher on December 19, 1955 in Salina, Oklahoma. She was a deaconess at New Jordan for many years and served as a cook for the Cherokee Baptist Association Family Camp. Maggie loved to cook, especially her dumplings and apple pies. She also enjoyed quilting and spending time with those she loved most. Maggie meant so much to so many; her newest grandbaby was named in her honor, for she had left such an impact on all the lives she had touched. She will be remembered by all the wonderful memories she leaves behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 in the New Jordan Baptist Church with Revered Duke Pickup and Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Interment will be in the Grass Cemetery with Nelson Kingfisher, Virgil Kingfisher, Vernon Kingfisher, James Kingfisher, Steven Kingfisher, and Wesley Rhodes serving as casket bearers. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Melvin Kingfisher, Tuffy Kingfisher, Barry Kingfisher, Joseph Kingfisher, John Foreman, Blake Stricklen, Jesse Beck and Shawn Kingfisher. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Maggie is survived by 5 sons; Nelson and wife Kay Kingfisher of Tahlequah, Ok, Melvin Kingfisher of Salina, Ok, Virgil and wife Francis Kingfisher of Salina, Ok, Vernon Kingfisher of Salina, Ok, James Kingfisher of Salina, Ok, and James Kingfisher of Salina, Ok; 2 daughters, Carolyn Kingfisher of Salina, Ok and Evelyn Kingfisher of Salina, Ok; 1 sister, Nancy and husband Bill Hesser of Colcord, Ok; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve Kingfisher;1 brother; 3 sisters; 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild.
