Mark Cartwright

Mark Fain Cartwright, 92, of Pryor, passed away on Wednesday, November4, 2015 in Pryor. He was born on August 2, 1923 in Pryor; the son of John and Mary Ellen (West) Cartwright. He married Betty Jean Panter, they celebrated 14 years of marriage before her passing. Mark faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the military, Mark began working as a machinist and was a self - employed builder. He married Mary Surrett on March 16, 1974 in Disney, Oklahoma. Mark looked forward to spending time with his family and enjoyed being outdoors in his yard. He loved to garden and doing yard work all year long. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2015 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor with Reverend Eli McHenry officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery with Travis Edmiston, Gail Osborn, Curtis Osborn, Kevin Schmoll, Roy Hamill, and Lane Williams serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Mark is survived by his wife, Mary Cartwright of the home; sons; John Cartwright and wife Sally of Pryor, Oklahoma, Craig Cartwright and wife Jo of Boatman, Oklahoma, and Christopher Cartwright of Grove, Oklahoma; daughters, Carla Cartwright of Pryor, Oklahoma, Cynthia Wilson and husband Leon of Leslie, Arkansas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Ellen Cartwright; wife, Betty Jean (Panter) Cartwright; and 8 siblings.
