Martha Odle

Martha Catherine (Layton) Odle was born August 13, 1940 in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Ora L. Layton and Lida May (Frazier) Layton. She departed this life on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at her home in Pryor at the age of 77, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Linwood, and Emery Layton as well as her sisters Latha Young, Inez McCarty, Evylene Holt, and Wilma Odle. Martha had two surviving siblings Acey Layton and Athalee Burket. Growing up Martha attended school in Pryor and was united in marriage to Clarence E. Odle on July 16, 1956, In Pryor, Oklahoma. The couple was married for 61 years, 6 months, and 18 days. The two bought a house in Pryor on October of 1960 where they shared a wonderful life, full of love and admiration, for 57 years. Martha was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother (nanny.) She was loving, strong, & had a contagious smile to those lucky enough to know her. Martha and Clarence had 3 children: Rhonda (Odle) Rice, Eugene Odle, and Randall Odle. All are loving, sweet, and a bit of onrey, that Martha passed on. Martha was a homemaker, but was known as much more than that by all who loved her. Stories were shared at each gathering and she loved to hear laughter of her family and grandchildren. Martha had many hobbies in her life. She loved reading, making ceramics, doing her crossword puzzles, embroidery, and taking care of her grand-dog Swuazie. She was said to be the most wonderful cook in the world by all of her grandchildren. A few favorite's they especially loved were her chicken & dumplings, potato salad, pumpkin pie, and trademark crap cake. Martha is survived by her husband, Clarence, of almost 62 years, 3 children, Rhonda Rice and husband William of Locust Grove, Eugene Odle and wife Freda of Pryor, and Randall Odle and wife Amanda of Pryor; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 grand-dog; one brother, Acey Layton of Pryor; one sister Athalee Burket of Pryor; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
