Marvin Luper

November 1, 1935 — June 1, 2015

Marvin Lee Luper, 79, of Claremore, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born on November 1, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas; the son of Joe and Hazel (Stephens) Luper. Marvin played semi pro softball in Wichita, Kansas. The "Love Box" softball team is now complete again, with Marvin Luper stepping into the field on June 1. He was a great dancer, especially when he was doing the Jitter Bug, which led him to meet his second wife, Raejean. Marvin worked as a supervisor at the Pryor Foundry for 19 years, retiring in 1993 to take care of his wife. He drove a school bus for Adair Schools and loved each child he every drove. Marvin helped establish the fire department in Strang in the early 80's, of which he was the first Fire Chief. He loved life, especially spending time with his family. Marvin was ornery and loved to pester. But he was as ornery as he was loving and generous. He lived life to its fullest leaving many memories along the way for each to cherish. Marvin found a new fiends or girlfriends at every place he was at. All in fun, but all who knew him knew he loved meeting people and making friends. He will be missed. A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 2 p.m. in The Gathering Church with Pastor Josh Greer officiating. Interment will follow in the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery with Blaine Luper, Christian Luper, Richard Luper, Eric Luper, Jamie Palmer and Mike Matlock serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Tim Zufall and Travis Fleming. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening. He is survived by his wife, Raejean Luper of the home, sons, Ronald and wife Alma Luper of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Kevin and Jamee Luper of Strang, Oklahoma; daughter, Wendy and husband Larry Jones of Strang, Oklahoma; sister, Jo Ellan McInnis and husband Bill McIntosh of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Richard Luper, Eric Luper, Holly Palmer, Casey Matlock, Blaine Luper, Kevi Zufall, and Christian Luper; 11 ½ great grandchildren; step daughters, Diane Davis of Texas, Rochelle Cowan of Glenpool, Oklahoma Natasha Avery of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Rachel Leonard of Avant, Oklahoma; 16 step - grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Luper, parents, Joe and Hazel Luper; son, Roger Allan Luper; sisters, Wilma Hodges and Judy Ault; and brothers, William Luper and Nick Luper.
