Mary W.J. Butler, 78, of Chouteau, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on March 30, 1939 in Chouteau, Oklahoma. Mary is the daughter of Guy and Bertha Myers. Mary married Carl Butler in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1957. Together, they raised five children; Mary Susan, Carla Jean, Bertha Lou (Smirt), Thomas Andrew and Carl Jr. They moved to Chouteau, Oklahoma on June 3, 1965. This would remain Mary's home until July 2017 and she then lived with her daughter in Tulsa. As a young girl, she loved to play basketball. Mary worked 30 + years as a cook at the Del Rio Restaurant in Chouteau, Oklahoma. She loved to cook holiday meals, gardening, crocheting, knitting, fishing, and camping. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and sewing clothes for them. Spending time with her grandchildren would put a smile on her face.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Smirt Butler of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son, Tom Butler and wife Cheryl of Claremore, Okahoma; son, Carl Butler, Jr. of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Butler, Sr., daughters, Carla Shores and Mary Susan Wiley; grandson, Carl Guy Kasler; and granddaughter, Andrea Hobbs.
