Mary Lou Dodge, 80, of Pryor, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at her home in Pryor. She was born on October 17, 1933 in Quincy, Illinois; the daughter of Richard and Daisy (Adams) Harness. She graduated from Quincy High School and took a book keeping class at a local college. Mary met the love of her life, John Phillip Dodge, and they were married on June 28, 1953 in Quincy, Illinois. She and John were married for 61 years. Mary loved being involved in the community and was a Worthy Matron in 1973 for the Mendon Chapter #153 of Eastern Star in Mendon, Illinois. She was also the secretary for the Eastern Star in Pryor. Mary enjoyed working with the Rainbow Girls, and was a lifetime member of the DAR in Pryor. She worked at the First Baptist Church in Pryor as the financial secretary for many years. Mary also enjoyed painting, many of her friends and family had paintings that she had done. She loved making baby blankets and giving those out to her friends. She enjoyed nature, especially hummingbirds. Above all, Mary loved her family and cherished each moment she had to spend with them. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 in the Life Fellowship Church with Reverend David Jarboe and Reverend Ken Gerhart officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Greenmont Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Mary is survived by her husband, John of the home; 3 sons, John and wife Kimberly Dodge of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Philip Dodge of Palmdale, California, and Matthew Dodge of La Russell, Missouri; 1 daughter, Cristiana Ehrhardt of Camp Point, Illinois; sister, Helen Brush of Quincy, Illinois; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Daisy Harness (Augustine), step father, Leonard Augustine, her brother, Richard Harness, son in law, John Ehrhardt and several aunts and uncles.
