Mary Jones

Mary Ruth Jones, 80, of Adair, Oklahoma, was born on February 7, 1937, in Adair, Oklahoma, to Earl and Edith (Ward) Sumner. She worked for Adair schools for 27 years as a secretary in the superintendent's office. She loved to travel and she would follow the kids from school on their sporting events especially track. She married Glen Jones and together they had two daughters. They attended the First Baptist church in Adair, after his passing she moved to Pryor and started attending the First Baptist in Pryor. Mary loved family gatherings and everyone looked forward to her chocolate sheet cake. She was a great caregiver and made sure everyone was taken care of. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 in the 1st Baptist Church in Adair with Pastor Roger Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Adair Cemetery with David Dixon, Anthony Dixon, Scott Wengerd, Sam Robbins, Gabriel Darnell and Mel Arner serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday June 21, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Mary is survived by her daughters, Diana Robbins and husband Bruce of Adair, Oklahoma, Danna Harrison and husband Brett of Adair, Oklahoma; brother, Ward Sumner and wife Glenda of Blue Jacket, Oklahoma; sister, Linda Arner and husband Mel of Phoenix, Arizona; 4 grandchildren and 57 great and great great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen C. Jones; sister and brother n law, Helen and Mike Dixon; parents, Earl and Edith Sumner which were all from Adair, Oklahoma.
