Mary Yoder

Mary Yoder, 102 years old, of Chouteau, passed away on Wednesday, September 29,2021 at her home. She was born on July 23, 1919 in Garnett, Kansas; the daughter of Menno and Barbara (Bontrager) Chupp. Mary has lived in the Chouteau area since childhood, coming from Kansas. She married John Henry Yoder on December 2, 1937 in Mayes County and they celebrated 64 wonderful years together until his passing in 2002. Mary was a wonderful cook, and loved to bake. She was known for her delicious sugar cookies. She was also a talented quilter and enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren. Mary was a loving woman of faith and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She leaves behind many memories for her family to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Norman Miller Residence at 5884 W. 620 Road Chouteau, Oklahoma 74337. Burial will be held in the North Amish Cemetery with John Leon Yoder, Marvin Dean Miller, Delbert Yoder and Ervin Dean Miller serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Mary Momy’s Caretakers. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m., until 4:30 p.m., and resume from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Norman Miller Residence.

Mary is survived by her son, Lloyd Yoder and wife Esther of Chatham, Virginia; daughters, Fannie Elizabeth Miller and husband Norman of Chouteau, Oklahoma and Edna Miller of Chouteau, Oklahoma; brother, Andy Chupp and wife Joan of Adair, Oklahoma; sister, Salina Bontrager of Kalona, Iowa; 35 grandchildren; 89 great grandchildren; 103 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Menno and Barbara Chupp; husband, John Henry Yoder; son, David Jay Yoder and wife Vera; brothers, William Chupp, Daniel Chupp, Leroy Chupp and Levi Chupp; sisters, Anna Yoder and Fannie Miller; son in law, Cristie C. Miller; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
