Maxine Procter

Maxine Ellen (Compton) Procter, 94, of Adair, passed away on January 3, 2019 in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was born on September 16, 1924 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma; the daughter of Earl Gus and Cora (Downing) Compton. She was proud of her Cherokee Heritage and went through genealogy to prove her heritage. She worked as a homemaker all her life and enjoyed cooking, sewing, making quilts and playing cards. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be lovingly remembered by all her friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the Pleasant Hope Church in Adair with Reverend Keith McGowen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Maxine is survived by her grandsons, Bryan Procter and wife Marissa of Del City, Oklahoma and Dee Procter and wife Scheneista of Adair, Oklahoma; and 4 great grandchildren, James, Josiah, Carter and Carson; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Cora Compton, husband, Lewis Procter, son, Tom Procter, and her brothers and sisters.
