Maynard Ray Mayo, 49, of Pryor, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was born on May 16, 1966 in Tulsa; the son of Maynard Mayo, Sr. and Alta (Hubbard) Mayo. Ray had fought a great fight and left this earth doing what he wanted to do. He was devoted to his family. His firm belief in God supported him in his struggle with cancer and ultimately gave him peace. Ray was blessed with a loving family. He married his best friend, Rhonda and helped raise 5 children, while excelling at machining at difficult tolerances. Ray loved to hunt; you could always find him in the woods, on the boat or four wheeling, when he wasn't attending church. Most recently they attended Faith Assembly of God and at present Pryor Pentecostal Church of God. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015 in the Pentecostal Church of God with Pastor Junior Mullin, Pastor Jerry Ogden and Pastor Gary Walden officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, 2, 2015 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Ray is survived by his wife, Rhonda Mayo of the home; sons, Daniel Mayo of Claremore, Oklahoma and Maynard Mayo III "Trey" of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughters, Angel Smith and husband John of Prague, Oklahoma, Heather Mayo of Pryor, Oklahoma and Shelby Vance and husband Henry of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; parents, Alta and Maynard Mayo; sisters, Debbie and husband Tommy Orr of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Nancy and husband Ronald Mobley of Golden, MS; 8 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
