Melba McClellan

Melba Voun McClellan, 91, of Pryor, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in Salina, Oklahoma. She was born on September 18, 1923 in Spavinaw, Oklahoma; the daughter of Herbert and Myrtle (Walker) Bates. She married Alfred McClellan on October 6, 1939 and was married for 56 years. Melba has been a lifetime resident of Mayes County and was a volunteer at Wa Ro Ma for many years. She had a deep love for her family and always was glad to see her many friends. Melba also looked forward to playing bingo and fellowship at McDonalds and also liked to play the piano when she was able. She was of the Baptist faith and was a resident at Park Hill in Salina since 2012. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 in the Spavinaw - Strang Cemetery in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2015 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Melba is survived by her son, Billy and wife Judy McClellan of Adair, Oklahoma; daughters, Carolyn Stricklen of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Joyce Rainwater of Claremore, Oklahoma; brothers, Arthur Bates of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and W.D. Bates of Blythe, California; sister, Pat Shoulander of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; and many great and great - great grandchildren many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Alfred S. McClellan; brother, Don Bates and sisters, Vida Sullivan and June Clark.
