Melvin Earl Briggs, 80, of Salina, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Tulsa. He was born on April 3, 1942 in La Cygne, Kansas; the son of Garnett and Virginia (Plumb) Briggs. He married Ellen on November 22, 1982 and have celebrated 39 years of marriage. He worked most of his life for Lone Star Cement Plant. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially when he was able to go hunting and fishing. He had an onery streak and always looked forward to aggravating his grandchildren, all out of love of course. He loved his family dearly and always enjoyed every moment he had to spend with them. He leaves behind many memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Blue Springs Church in Salina with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Melvin is survived by his wife, Ellen Briggs of the home; daughters, Betty Keefer and husband Wayne of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Donna Sanchez and husband Bruce of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Robin Haley and husband Matt of Salina, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lindsey and husband Taylon Ables, Ray Varasse and wife Sharon, Braden Sanchez and wife Kelsey, Gilbert Chavez, Mariah Penland and husband Chris, Bryan Sanchez, Justin Haley and wife Carter, and Blake Sanchez and wife Ashleigh; great grandchildren, Lilly Varasse, Reagan Penland, Harper Varasse, Haven Sanchez, Koe Penland, and Baby Sanchez; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Garnett and Virginia Briggs; step son, Mike Varasse; brother, James; sister, Mary Ann and Lois; grandchild, Nathaniel.
