Mildred Shaull

July 25, 1928 — August 25, 2014

Mildred Shaull, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with her Lord on August 25, 2014, after succumbing to cancer at her home in Pryor. Born Mildred Alveta Dethloff on July 25, 1928, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to John and Alice Dethloff, she was raised in the Happy Valley Community with five brothers. After graduating from Cushing High School, she attended Draughon's School of Business in Tulsa. As a secretary, she worked at refineries in Cushing and Ponca City before marrying Donald Shaull from Yale, Oklahoma. Donald and Mildred raised three children in Tulsa where Mildred was active as a homeroom mom and in the PTA. She was a leader at Lynn Lane 4-H Club and a vacation Bible School volunteer at Lynn Lane Baptist Church and Plainview Baptist. For a short time, Mildred participated in an amateur bowling league. She was an avid gardener and seamstress. She worked in the cafeteria for Tulsa Public Schools at Foster Junior High and East Central High School before joining the kitchen staff at Oral Roberts University Village Retirement Center where she worked for more than 20 years. In 1971 the family moved to Pryor where they joined Pleasant View Baptist Church and Mildred again served as a Vacation Bible School volunteer. After retiring, she and Donald traveled across the U.S. attending gospel singings in their RV. Mildred continued her spirit of volunteerism by helping Meals on Wheels and working at the Free Medical Clinic of Mayes County. Mildred and Donald celebrated 60 years of marriage last October with friends and family at their church. Mildred leaves behind her loving husband, Donald Shaull, three children, Phyllis McLemore of Tulsa, Sandra McKinzie and husband, George of Pryor, and Alan Shaull and wife, Angie of Pryor.
