Murtice Prather

Murtice Jo Prather, 91, of Salina, Oklahoma, was born on November 28, 1925, in Marshall, Texas; the daughter of William and Ima (Stewart) Peterson. She passed away July 22, 2017 at the Salina Care center in Salina, Oklahoma. Jo grew up in Texas and worked in healthcare for 42 years. She moved to Salina, Oklahoma in 2000 where she lived the remaining years of her life. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and doing bead work. She was kind, loving, giving, adventurous, funny and a wonderful woman to not only her family, but to anyone she met. She leaves behind so many wonderful memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

At Jo's request, there will be no funeral service. Saturday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m., there will be a small memorial service at the Gaskin's house, where we will be sharing memories and would love to invite any family or friends to share in the celebration of Murtice Jo Prather's life. She is survived by her son, Bobby Gaskin and wife Diane of Salina, Oklahoma; grandsons, Bobby Gaskin Jr. of Salina, Oklahoma, Tex Gaskins and wife Julie of Salina, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Melanie Bailey of Salina, Oklahoma; 5 great grandchildren. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ima Peterson.
