Myrtle Lee (Thomas) Lane, 91, of Pryor, Oklahoma, was born to James H. and Mattie (Conley) Thomas near Inola, Oklahoma. She departed this life on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at her daughter and son-in-laws home south of Pryor, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 24 days. She was married March 25, 1937 to Cecil Lane and lived for years at Strang, Oklahoma. After Cecil's death in 1959, she became the owner of the Strang Grocery. She later moved to Pryor and was employed at Wal-Mart. She was very much a home body and found much enjoyment in crocheting and making quilts. She attended the West Side Freewill Baptist Church. Myrtle will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel with Reverend Andy Nichols officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery with Ken Lane, Steve Lane, Randy Minnix, Gregg Minnix and Justin James serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are J.E. Casey and Scott Rice. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Westside Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday evening. She is survived by her children, Cecil Lee (Sonny) and wife, Donna of Strang, OK, Bob Lane of Pryor, OK and Betty Maddux and husband, Bob of Pryor, OK; eleven grandchildren; Cindy Stone, Jimmy Lane, Ken Lane, Linda Hanshaw, Glenda Cousland, Gail Omidy, Ronda Rice, Randy Minnix, Gregg Minnix, Jerry Lane Jr. (Bub), and John Lane; 24 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her husband, Cecil Lane in 1959; her son, Jerry Don Lane in 2004; her granddaughter, Patty Denise Bohr in 2003; great granddaughter, Jennifer Lane; her parents, Jim and Mattie Thomas; her brothers, Roy Thomas and Jim Thomas; her sisters, Lillian Kaufman, Alta Richards and Marjorie Rogers.
