Myrtle Henson Raper, age 73, of Kenwood, Oklahoma was born on December 19, 1939. She was the daughter of Jess T. & Lila Henson. She grew up in the Iron Post Community and was the youngest of six children. Myrtle attended Iron Post School until the 8th grade and later received her GED. Myrtle and Willie were united in marriage on October 25, 1956 by the Reverend Smith Grass. Soon after they relocated to Elgin, Illinois where she received training as a candy striper. They returned to Kenwood in 1961, where they raised their children. Mom devoted her life to Christ and served the Church faithfully. Her greatest honor was praising God and singing for the Lord. Our family loved her cooking and looked forward to the holiday gatherings. Mom had a special knack of remembering everyone's dates of birth, baptism dates, and anniversaries. Besides the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, she also knew the birthdates of all of her nieces and nephews, and others in the community. Often times calling her children to remind them when their friend's birthdays were. Grandma absolutely looked forward to going to all the grandkids games, school events, and graduations; many times leaving grandpa behind when he was not back from fishing or work in time. It was difficult some days to get through to her on the phone, as it was always busy with her daily calls to her special friends, nieces and nephews and her church family. She is reunited with her loved ones, especially her mother, whom she missed dearly. Mom, we know you are in heaven and singing God's praises to him. We love you.
