Nancy D. Hughes, a beloved homemaker and nurse aid, passed away peacefully at her home on July 11, 2023. She was born on May 3, 1947, in Abilene, Texas to her loving parents, George, Sr. and Elizabeth Kirkland. Nancy's life was one filled with dedication, compassion, and an unwavering love for her family. Throughout her life, Nancy found joy in caring for others. As a nurse aid for many years, she touched the lives of countless patients, providing them with comfort and support during their most vulnerable moments. Her nurturing nature and compassionate heart made her an exceptional caregiver and earned her the respect and gratitude of all those she served. Nancy's commitment to both her profession and her family was truly remarkable. While working as a nurse aid, she also dedicated herself to being a homemaker. She skillfully managed the household and created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for her loved ones. Her devotion knew no bounds as she selflessly put the needs of others before her own. In addition to her career achievements and homemaking responsibilities, Nancy also enjoyed listening to music and reading books. Her love extended not only towards literature and melodies but also towards those closest to her heart —her dog— who provided unconditional love and companionship throughout the years. Furthermore, nothing brought greater joy to Nancy than spending time with her grandchildren. Their laughter echoed through the walls of their home, filling every corner with warmth and happiness.
Nancy is survived by her son, Ray Hughes of Muskogee, Oklahoma and daughter, Alta Hughes of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; brother, Marvin Kirkland of Hamlin, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth Cleveland and husband Colton of Florida and Jonathan Mendoza of Oklahoma; 1 great grandchild, Conner Cleveland of Florida; and many other relatives and friends.
