Nancy Prouty

Nancy Ellen (Sellick) Prouty, 90, of Adair, Oklahoma, passed away on June 3, 2010 in Salina, Oklahoma. She was born on November 26, 1919 on the family home place northeast of Pryor. She was the daughter of Stephen Ezra Sellick and Ethel (Coleman) Sellick. She attended school at Cole and also at Strang and attended Northeastern College at Miami, Oklahoma for two years. She earned her pilots license in 1941 and also worked at the Dupont Powder Plant south of Pryor. She was married to Marlow Jameson in 1947 in Kansas and to this union one son was born, Richard M. (Dick) Jameson. She left Oklahoma and moved to California and settled in Huron, California, becoming the Post Mistress there from 1948 until 1978. While in California, she met and married Mr. Richard Pouty in November of 1981 in Reno, Nevada. After her retirement they moved back to Oklahoma, settling on Lake Hudson. Nancy loved gardening, sewing, collecting sewing machines and cooking Mexican food for her friends and family. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel with Reverend Francis Berka officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Pryor with Stanley Bergman, Kent Bergman, Steven Arric, Brent Ables, Dick McNair, Jr. and Brad Dennis serving as casketbearers. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral Cremation Service. Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; one son, Richard M. Jameson and wife, Jeanette of Porterville, CA; one step-daughter, Marlene Muehl and husband, Jack of Sioux Falls, SD; three nieces, Charlene Arric, Mary Lou Burnett and Betty Crockett; four nephews, Gary Sellick, Kenneth Sellick, Perry Sellick and David Sellick; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marlow Jameson; four brothers, Jack, John, Dan and Dean Sellick; one sister, Malverda Bergman and one half sister, Vada Fountain.
