Nanetta Jean Phelan Thompson, 69 was born to Nolan Ras "Dick" Phelan and Norma Peck Walters on July 20, 1953. She attended Salina School graduating with the class of 1971. She met and married Joe Thompson on Sept. 8, 2004, in Miami, OK then made their home on Saline Creek outside of Salina.
Nanetta worked at Love's and Stack's convenience stores where she met and made many friends. She then worked for Mid America pipeline with Joe. They traveled together all over the United States. After retiring, she and Joe enjoyed taking the grandkids on their vacations. Nan was the type of person that would give you the shoes off of her feet, but would also be a spit fire when the need arose. She thought she was the "Boss" of the family, trying to keep all of us lined out. She was an easy target for all of us to pull jokes on, which we practiced quite often. We will miss hearing her laughter and the silly things that she said and done. She made an impact on everyone she met.
Today she's walking the streets of gold with Jesus and even though she loved each and every one of us, I don't think she would come back if she could.
Nanetta is survived by her son Kevin Brown and wife Kristi of Salina, OK. Daughter Wendy Sanders and husband Todd of Arcadia, OK. Christy Thompson of OKC, OK.
Older Sister to Lynn Phelan and wife Terri of Salina, OK, Karen Phelan Marble and husband Jerry of Salina, OK. Tammy Brown Dewey and husband Wesley of Salina, OK.
