Nellie Jean (Boney) Loftis, 85, of Spavinaw, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at her home. She was born on December 18, 1933 at home in Salina; the daughter of Esiah and Lillie (King) Boney. She married Clifford Loftis, Sr. and have celebrated 64 years of marriage. Nellie worked for many years at the Obrien Poultry as a general laborer. Nellie served as a Deaconess of the Brush Creek Baptist Church in Jay from 1962 until 1969 and then Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Jay from 1969 until 2013. She taught Cherokee Speaking Sunday School classes, was WMU Director for many years and enjoyed spending time reading scripture and studying God’s word. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts and loved to clean yards. She loved her vegetable gardening and tending to them whenever she could. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Euwasha Baptist Church in Kenwood with Reverend Richard Soldier officiating. Burial will follow in the Euwasha Cemetery with Patrick Bearpaw, Randall Loftis, Kevin Loftis, DJ Loftis, Josh Loftis, and Tommy Woods serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Everett Woods, Jarrod Bearpaw, Michael Bearpaw, and JR Nofire. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Nellie is survived by her husband, Clifford Loftis, Sr. of the home; sons, Clifford Loftis, Jr. and wife Patricia of Spavinaw, Oklahoma and Roger Loftis and wife Betsy Thompson of Leach, Oklahoma; daughters, Shirley Bearpaw and husband Zim of Jay, Oklahoma and Shara Loftis of the home; adopted children, Nedra Dry, Marilee Hilderbrand, Kayla Snell and JR Nofire; sisters, Mary Boney of Spavinaw, Oklahoma and Sue Seaz of Spavinaw, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Esiah and Lille (King) Boney, brothers, Ned Boney, Wadie Boney, and Sam Boney; sister, Carrie Seaz, nephew Terry Beltron; and her twins, Paul and Pauline
