Nellie Wiggins

Nellie Florene (Adams) Wiggins, 95, of Waco, Texas passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012 in Waco. She was born on August 16, 1917 in Shilo TWS. Neosho County near Thayer, Kansas, the daughter of John Q. Adams and Jessie (Miller) Adams. In Oswego, Kansas, January 19, 1935, she and John Wiggins were married. They then moved to Michigan to live where his work was at that time. They had three children, one son, John J. Wiggins, Jr. and two daughters, MaDonna Sue and Joyce Irene. She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church Northwest of Altamont. Nellie was one of eight children born to John Q. and Jessie Adams. Nellie has a beauty business between the years of 1941 and 1948 and then worked for Bathey Mfg. for eight years before moving to Arizona in 1959. In 1963 they moved to Simi, California, then in the fall of 1966 moved back to the old home place near Altamont. In 1982 they moved to Sportsman Shores near Vinita, Oklahoma where her husband passed away in August 29, 1994. She moved to Waco, Texas to be near her son John and his family. She was a lovely lady Graveside Services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Altamont, Kansas. She will be interred next to her husband, John. She is survived by her son, John Jr. and wife, Theresa Wiggins of Waco, TX; her daughters, Joyce Irene Smith of Fritz, TX and Madona Sue Wiggins of Carthage, MO; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Q. and Jessie Adams; her husband, John in 1994; her siblings, Gertie Marie, William Ernest, Gerald Emmerson, George Clinden, Elsie Wauneta, Wilbur Ivan and Ethel Irene.
