Norma Cunningham

Norma Gail (Self) Cunningham of Rose, Oklahoma died July 12 in Tahlequah. She was 69. Norma was born September 9, 1940 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Winifred and Lenora Self. She graduated from Pryor High School in 1958 and married Lewis Cunningham in 1959. They lived in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, and the Pryor area before moving to Rose in 1979. Together they had five children and eleven grandchildren and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in November. A long time member of the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove, Norma was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord and left an amazing legacy of faith to her family. Her family was her pride and joy and spending time with them was very important to her. She loved to cook, read, have parties, play games, and GO places! Norma loved to laugh and lived life to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include Norma's husband, Lewis "Bud" of Rose; five children and ten grandchildren, Vickie (David), Erin, Blake, Dylan, and Rachel Burroughs of Arkansas City, Kansas, Rex (Susan) and Nathan Cunningham of Benbrook, Texas, Jack (Tammy), Jacob, Katie and Max Cunningham of Locust Grove, Keith (Robin), Audra and Wade Cunningham of Rose, and Kurt Cunningham of Rose; her mother, Lenora Self of Broken Arrow; three siblings, Jerry (Carol) Self of Broken Arrow, Donna (Marc) Garrett of Broken Arrow, and Connie (Jeff) Maloy of St. Louis; and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson Derek Burroughs in 2008 and her father Winifred Self in 1964. A Memorial Service will be held in the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove on Thursday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m., with George Littledave officiating.
