Orie Detweiler, 81 years, 11 months, 8 days, born on October 29, 1941, to Bill and Catherine Detweiler at Chouteau, Oklahoma. He died on October 7, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family after a battle with pneumonia. On March 8, 1962, he married Sara Yoder, who survives him. He was a retired farmer and county worker. Orie was a member of the Old Order Amish Church of Chouteau, Oklahoma.
The surviving family includes his wife of 62 years and 4 sons; Leroy (Treva) of Inola, Oklahoma, Glen (Susan) of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Willis (Sarah) of Inola, Oklahoma, Freeman (Rachel) of Inola, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Susan Detweiler of Inola, Jacob and Ruth Detweiler of Chouteau, Oklahoma, William and Ida Detweiler of Fredericksburg, Ohio; sisters, Barbara and Everett Yoder of Inola, Oklahoma, Martha Chupp of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Salina Detweiler of Inola, Oklahoma, and Edna and Clarence Miller of Chouteau, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Ida Ellen; 3 grandchildren, Martha Sue, Leanna Ruth and Robert Leon; 3 brothers, Joe, Dan, and Eli; sister, Susie and 2 brothers in law.
Funeral will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., at the home of Willis Detweiler at 9472 S. 427 Road Inola, Oklahoma 74036. Burial will follow at North Amish Cemetery at Chouteau, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2023 at the same residence.
