Phillip Gene Davis, 65, of Pryor, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 in Chouteau, Oklahoma. He was born on August 20, 1948 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Carl E. Davis and Lillian Marie Davis. Phillip lived on a farm when he went to school in Eufaula and graduated in 1966. He met his wife Barbara when she moved from Florida her Jr. year of high school. Phil started working for her dad cutting and hauling hay and when Barb saw him, she thought what a hunk. She asked to go on a church hayride in Council Hill, and from that time on they were a couple. For Barb it was no doubt love at first sight the rest is history; good times and bad times, but still the love of her life. They were married on june 30, 1967 in Eufaula. Phillips spent 2 years in the Army and worked his way up to an E-6 level in Pershing missiles in Germany. Phillip came back to Oklahoma from Germany in 1969 and started his family. He went to work at Oklahoma Cement in 1970 and started out as a laborer and worked up to utility man, then shift foreman and finally maintenance foreman. During this time, the plant went to LoneStar, then Buzzi Unicem. Phil loved his guys and would stand up for them. He never would make them do anything he wouldn't have done right alongside them. In 1994, Phillip and two of his good friends from the plane where flying back from El Paso on plant business, when their plane went down. Phil was the only survivor. Phillip was a tough guy, they didn't want him to leave the hospital 2 days later, but he said he was going to his best friend, Don King, funeral service. He was back to work within 2 weeks of the crash. Phil spent 43 years of his life at the plant; he knew the plant like the back of his hand. He took pride in all he did there, and loved the family there. He retired in January of 2013. Phil loved to fish, hunt, and garden. He loved his family and friends. If Phillip liked you, he would bend over backwards to help you. He was just a good ole Boy. Phillip is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis of the home; 2 sons, Charles Brian Davis and Lisa Wiggins and Danny Ray and wife Nicole Davis; 1 brother, Jim Davis and wife Sonja of Eufaula, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Martha Deerinwater of Eufaula, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Derrick and fiancé Carlie, Trent, Kaleb and Breanna; many other relatives and friends.
