Phillip Stratford Jr.

Phillip L. Stratford Jr., 75, of Langley, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 at his home in Langley. He was born on December 3, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Phillip L. Stratford and Margaret A. (Cappey) Stratford. He faithfully served his Country in the United States Air force. Phillip retired from the Air force after 20 years of service to his Country. Phillip was a flight engineer. He was a highly decorated Vietnam veteran who was awarded many honors in his service career and several Distinguished Flying Crosses. He was featured in the June 1972 Life Magazine as a One Man Combat Team. Phillip also retired from Boeing Aircraft Company. He married Joann Frisk in Bentonville, Arkansas on November 27, 1996. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining his family and friends. Phillip was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW. He loved his family and his Country, being forever in the hearts and thoughts of those who knew and loved him. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Cremation Chapel with Reverend K.E. Gearhart officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral Cremation Service. He is survived by his sons, Lee Stratford of Anna, Texas and Michael J. Stratford of Lewis, Iowa ; his daughters, Julie A. Atcherson of Douglass, Kansas, Linda S. Derry of Tyler, Texas and Nancy J. Stratford of Derby, Kansas; his sisters, Jean Rhodes, Phyllis McCarthy, Blanche Lanterman and Kathryn Filicky; his brothers, Earl Stratford and Norman Stratford; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Stratford, one son, Phillip L. Stratford III; one brother, George Stratford and one sister, Peggy Cappelli.
