Phyllis Ramsey

Phyllis Darlene Ramsey, 86, of Pryor, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her home in Pryor. She was born on June 9, 1930 in Boatman, Oklahoma; the daughter of Edgar and Darcia (Ables) Whitmire. She graduated from Salina High School and grew up in the Boatman area. Phyllis loved to watch western movies and enjoyed to go fishing. She looked forward to big family Thanksgiving dinners and spending time with those she loved. She owned and operated with her husband, Alvie, the Salina Lumber yard and Feed Mill for many years. In her later years, she worked as a receptionist for State Farm. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in the Southside Christian Church in Pryor with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Boatman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Gloria Ramsey of Pryor, Oklahoma; companion for 25 years, Ernie Smith; step sons, Rick Smith and wife Linda of Salina, Oklahoma and Melvin "Mel" Smith and wife Lois of Fort Walton, Florida; step daughters, Loretta Young and husband Larry of Salina, Oklahoma, Jean Owens and husband James of Pryor, Oklahoma and Karen Smith and husband Bobby Hamill of Abilene, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Shannon Horton and wife Linda Jo of Pryor, Oklahoma and Brandy Kelley and Sean Loomis of Grove, Oklahoma; 3 great grandchildren, Josh Goff and wife Chloe, Cameron Loomis and Gabriel Horton; 19 step grandchildren; 42 step great grandchildren; and 4 step great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvie Ramsey, son, Dwight Ramsey, two infant brothers, 1 brother, Spud Whitmire and 4 sisters.
