Ray Franklin

Ray Edward Franklin, 76, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at his home. He was born on January 8, 1937 in Tullahoma, Tennessee, the son of Melvin L. Franklin and Lena (Floyd) Franklin. He faithfully served his Country in the United States Airforce. He married Helen Joyce Swearengin on October 3, 1949 in Reno, Nevada. He had lived in the area for 51 years on and off coming from California. He was a member of the Salina VFW. Ray worked in the sheet metal/construction industry. He dearly loved his family and the time he spent with them. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in the Bryan Chapel in Boatman, Oklahoma, at 10 a.m. with Reverend Derek Melton officiating. Interment will be in the Bryan Chapel Cemetery with Randall Franklin, Douglas Franklin, Bo Morehead, Randy Newby, Carl Ballou and Larry Morehead serving as casket bearers. He is survived by his sons, Douglas Franklin of Estill Springs, TN, Randall Franklin of Walla Walla, WA, Tim and wife, Shelly Stout of Olive Hurst, CA; his daughters, Toni and husband, Carl Ballou of Salina, OK and Brenda Maner of Locust Grove, OK; his brothers, Ruben Franklin of Tullahoma, TN and Haskell Franklin of Manchester, TN; his sisters, Altea Mays of McMinville, TN and Kate Lamb of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; may other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Lena Franklin; his wife, Helen Franklin; four brothers, Willard, James, Junior, and Robert Franklin; two sisters, Bea Metcalf and Alice Banks.
