Ray Hughes

Ray Lee Hughes, 78, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma passed away on

Monday, November 2, 2020 at his home.  He was born on August 7, 1942 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Robert Lee Hughes Jr. and Louise (Copeland) Hughes.  Ray faithfully served his Country in the United States Army.  He married Nancy Kirkland on June 2, 1967 in Fort Worth, Texas and made a wonderful life together.  Ray enjoyed fishing when he could.  He enjoyed yard sales and watching movies.  His joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and all the time he spent with them and his dog, Bella.  Ray will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Bryan Chapel Cemetery at Boatman, Oklahoma with Pastor Joel Powell officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Shipman’s Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, November 4, 2020.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hughes of 53 years; children, Ray Hughes and wife, Rosalinda of Muskogee, OK and Alta Hughes of Sand Springs, OK; grandchildren; Juan, Stacy, Renee, and Rueben, Jonathan Mendoza, Elizabeth Cleveland, Nevaeh, Samantha, Jaylen, Nathan, and Adalina; great grandchildren, Conner Cleveland and Malachi; many other relatives and friends of Texas and Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Louise Hughes; three brothers and 1 sister.
