Ray William Steward of Pryor passed away on October 10, 2023. Born December 31, 1936 to Franklin W and Emma Phene Lister Steward, Pryor, OK. Ray married Patsy R Meeker on December 17, 1955 and from this union they had one son, Lonnie Ray Steward. Ray was employed at the Oklahoma Cement Company for 10 years. He then moved on to the Pryor Foundry serving there for 25 years until his retirement in 1999. He made his first home west of Pryor although he was raised in Salina and graduated high school there. Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and 3 young brother in laws. He worked with his hands planting bulbs and flowers for all the eyes to see and enjoy. He always gave God the credit for the gift of increase. He built 2 new homes from the ground up on weekends and any spare time he might have. He owned acreage at Salina. He and Patsy moved there to live where they ran about 50 head of cattle until his health began to fail. He and Patsy then moved back to Pryor. Ray’s creed was “Waste not want not” he lived by that rule. A quiet man, an honest man, and he was always thankful for what the Lord supplied. He will be missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Patsy of the home; daughter-in-law, Thersey of Pryor. Granddaughter Jeanine McFay and 2 great grandchildren Angela and Seth Markle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Emma; son, Lonnie Steward; 7 brothers; and one sister.
