Raymond McLaughlin

November 4, 1930 — July 23, 2016

Raymond "Mac" Sheldon McLaughlin, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Chouteau, Oklahoma. He was born on November 4, 1930 in New Township Wisconsin the son of Vernon and Grace (Hessler) McLaughlin. Mac faithfully served his country in the United States Navy; retiring after 31 ½ years. He served in the occupation of Japan, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was a Drill Instructor within the Navy. He married Wanda Huffman at Pearl Harbor on July 15, 1967. Mac coached church league softball for the Chouteau First Baptist Church for many years and taught boys Sunday School. He was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church in Chouteau and enjoyed attending church events. He looked forward to spending time with his family; especially when they were playing "pitch" together. Mac had a special love for his grandchildren and cherished each moment he had to spend with them. He liked to watch John Wayne and other westerns on television and also enjoyed watching car races. He was very mechanically inclined, if Mac couldn't fix it, it couldn't be fixed. He will be remembered by all the wonderful memories he leaves behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mac is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; son, Curtis McLaughlin and wife Tabitha of Chouteau, Oklahoma; daughter, Darlene Chupp and husband Barry of Chouteau, Oklahoma; brother, Richard McLaughlin and wife, Terry of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; sisters, Barbara Turner of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and Carolyn Sukup of Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
