Richard Leon Boswell, 71, of Adair, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 in Tulsa. He was born on March 7, 1945 in Coffeyville, Kansas; the son of Richard and Marvine (Crawford) Boswell. He attended Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville, and graduated in the Class of 1963. He married Patricia Shrum on July 3, 1987. He worked for many years as a machinist at Beaumont Bolt and Gasket. Richard was a sports fan, especially when it came to the Kansas City teams, Chiefs, Royals, and Jay Hawks. He enjoyed photography and looked forward to taking pictures of his grandchildren. Richard was also an outdoorsman, he enjoyed being outside and going fishing, and watching Scary Movies. He will be remembered by all the wonderful memories he leaves behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the Blue Springs Church in Salina with Pastor Lorne Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Adair Cemetery with Shawn Boswell, Eric Boswell, Shawn Morton, DeWayne Tedford, Jr., Troy Phillips, and Ricki Conn serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Boswell of the home; sons, Shawn Boswell of Van Buren, Arkansas, Scott Boswell of Van Buren, Arkansas, Shawn Morton of Nowata, Oklahoma, Eric Boswell and wife, Christina of Wichita, Kansas, Chris Boswell and wife, Karen of Coffeyville, Kansas, and DeWayne Tedford, Jr, of Adair, Oklahoma; daughters, Louise Conn of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Patty Phillips and husband Troy of Adair, Oklahoma; sisters, Connie Lind and husband, John of Pryor, Oklahoma and Brenda Burroughs and husband Bill of Dearing, Kansas; 28 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marvine Boswell, his mother in law, Ollie Shrum and brother in law, Bill Long.
