Richard Kingfisher

Richard Eugene Kingfisher, 80, of Salina, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on August 12, 1941 in Claremore, Oklahoma; the son of Dick and Jessie (Stealer) Kingfisher. He married Mary Walker on July 15, 1966 in Pineville, Missouri and celebrated 55 wonderful years together. Richard enjoyed playing the guitar, bass guitar and singing gospel music. He also enjoyed playing gospel and Beatles music. He loved to play at his church, Salina All Nations Church. He also looked forward to watching sports, especially the Texas Rangers and Oklahoma City Thunder. His first language was Cherokee and he was proud to be a fluent Cherokee speaker. Richard loved his family and cherished each moment he had to spend with his grandsons and great grandson. He was strong in his faith and loved his Lord. Richard will be lovingly remembered by all the memories he leaves behind.

Memorial Visitation services will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Kingfisher of the home; son, Dino Kingfisher and wife Cheryl of Salina, Oklahoma; grandsons, Rance Eagle Kingfisher, Talon Hawk Kingfisher, and Seth Cougar Kingfisher; great grandson, Fletcher Fox Kingfisher; step brothers, Virgil Stealer of Salina, Oklahoma, Louie Stealer of Salina, Oklahoma, and Sammy Stealer of Kansas, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Jessie Kingfisher.
