Richard Motley

July 24, 1939 — October 30, 2010

Richard Motley of Pryor, a 25+ year employee of Pryor Foundry, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010. He was 71. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor (on the south side of old Hwy 20 at corner of Murdock and Harris) with Reverend Rob Harris of the First United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening (across from Integris Mayes County Medical Center). Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral Cremation Service. Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pryor. He was a Mason. He was a Chemist, a metallurgist, and an environmental engineer. Richard was a life-long fisherman. He and his fishing-buddy, Ernie McCoy shared a boat dock on Spavinaw Lake. He loved to gamble in later years. He was a NASCAR fan. Richard was an assistant Scoutmaster with the Pryor Boy Scouts. He was born July 24, 1939 to Loren and Dorothy Motley in Hannibal, Missouri. He attended high school in Kinderhook, Illinois. Richard received a B.S. in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University and a PhD in Chemistry from Kansas State University. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Diana; a son, Michael of Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Laura of Oklahoma City, OK; and a sister, Elizabeth of Pittsburg, PA.
