Richard Allen Nielsen, owner of R. Nielsen Flooring, passed away on December 26, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on August 18, 1947, in Woodstock, Illinois. Richard was deeply religious and lived his life with great devotion and faith.
Richard married the love of his life, Christine Marie Hensley, on February 25, 1970 in Birkenfeld, Germany. Together they raised their three children, Edward, Michael and Tammy. Richard will be remembered for his successful career as the owner of R. Nielsen Flooring. Through his hard work and dedication, he established a reputable business that brought joy and comfort to countless homes. His commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction was unwavering, earning him the respect and admiration of both colleagues and clients. Outside of work, Richard had a passion for serving others. He found fulfillment in volunteering at various churches throughout the years and was actively involved in the Boy Scouts and several church organizations in the Yuba-Sutter area of California. Richard's selflessness touched the lives of many individuals who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. In his leisure time, Richard enjoyed a multitude of hobbies and interests. When he wasn't lending a helping hand or attending to his business responsibilities, he could be found entertaining friends and family with his wonderful hospitality. Richard had a love for dancing, cooking, tending his garden, exploring new destinations through travel adventures, and honing his golf skills. Richard also had a love for the ocean and fishing. The ocean was one of his favorite places to spend time, the waves and sounds bringing him a sense of peace.
Richard's legacy continues through children: Edward Nielsen, Michael Nielsen, Tammy Jones and husband Daniel; brother Robert Nielsen and wife Stormy; sister Kim Johnston and husband Jim; brother-in-law Gerardo Sariñana; 5 grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members and friends. His presence in their lives brought immeasurable joy, and the love they shared knows no bounds. Richard was preceded in death by wife Christine Nielsen; his father, Maltha Nielsen; his mother, Aida (Duckfield) Nielsen; and sister Kerri Sariñana.
A graveside service will be held to honor Richard's life on January 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
