Richard E. Prouty, 89, of Adair, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on April 17, 1928 in Turlock, California; the son of Russell and Ethel (Farr) Prouty. Richard was a farm foreman most of his life till he retired and moved to Oklahoma in 1987. He married the love of his life, Nancy Sellick in 1984. Richard was a lifetime member of the Republic Party, of the National Rifle Association and a Harley Davidson Enthusiast and a member of the Harley Owners Group. In his past time, he enjoyed watching western movies, and reading books on, philosophy and theology. He had a hobby of collecting Ford Mustangs. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017 in the Shipman's Chapel with Reverend Francis Berka officiating. Richard is survived by his stepson, Richard Jameson and wife Jeanette of Porterville, California; nephews, Dennis Prouty and wife Arlene of Hughson, California, Russell Prouty of Hickman, California, Doug Prouty of Ajo, Arizona; Nieces, Ellen Prouty Fletcher of Denair, California, Alice Prouty of Oroville, California, Rebecca Prouty Yarnell of Hilmar, California, Debra Prouty Volk of Turlock, California, Diane Prouty Watling of Turlock, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ethel Prouty; wife, Nancy Sellick Prouty; brothers, Bert Prouty and Ernest Prouty.
