Rita Kachelmeyer

Rita Kachelmeyer went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 14, 2016 in Oklahoma City. She was born on July 27, 1929 in Batavia, New York to Sophia and Anthony Slominski. She married Earl Kachelmeyer on December 27, 1947 in Batavia, New York. They were married 67 unbelievably wonderful years. Mrs. Kachelmeyer was an active member of St. Mark's Catholic Church Ladies Club and Altar Society and former CCD teacher. She leaves a legacy of love, not only with her biological family, but with her large extended family of friends, Bunco buddies and neighbors. Mrs. Kachelmeyer worked part-time outside the home for Sharpe's and Villager in Pryor and later opened her own business, Pandora's Box clothing store on Graham Avenue. While living a few years in Seal Beach, CA she decided to fulfill her dream of becoming a travel agent and earned certification from Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley, CA.

Mrs. Kachelmeyer was an avid gardener who produced spectacular flowers and fresh vegetables that accented scrumptious meals crafted from secret family recipes. Her hands were always busy with gardening, creating crafts and holiday projects, and participating in many craft shows. She enjoyed several cruises, trips to Branson, and visiting her families in Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma City and Owasso. Her focus was on her beloved grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to a daughter, son, or grandchild and enjoyed spending time celebrating special events in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sophia and Anthony Slominski, her sister Delores Clark, and her beloved husband, Earl Kachelmeyer. Mrs. Kachelmeyer's survivors include her four daughters, Sandra Reeves of Austin, TX; Patricia Scott of Owasso, OK; Cheryl Stafford and husband, Michael of Pryor, OK; and Carol Salcido and husband, Richard of Portland, TN. Her sons include Michael Kachelmeyer and wife, Kathy of Vonore, TN; Gary Kachelmeyer and wife, Starla of Oklahoma City, OK; and James Kachelmeyer and wife, Charlette of Galveston, TX.
Her grandchildren include Gregory Reeves and wife, Debbie of Austin, TX; Christopher Reeves of Austin, TX, Brian Reeves and wife Azelle of Austin, TX; Jeffrey Kachelmeyer and wife, Andrea of Cincinnati, OH; Ryan Kachelmeyer and wife, Margie of Oklahoma City, OK; Kevin Kachelmeyer and wife, Emily of Norman, OK; Peggy Howard of Tempe, AZ; Jennifer Self and husband, Dustin of Carrollton, TX; Jamie Wheeler and husband, Travis of Pryor, OK; Katie Smith and husband, Clarence of Tulsa, OK; Kyle Kachelmeyer of Norman, OK; Cassandra Short and husband, Justin of Portland, TN; and Candice Sumner and husband, Joshua of Gleason, TN.

Her 15 great-grandchildren include Marina nd Locklan Reeves of Austin, TX; Danielle and Dasha Reeves of Austin, TX; Trey and Drew Kachelmeyer of Cincinnati, OH; Madison Scott of Owasso, OK; Grayson Self of Carrollton, TX; Zechariah, Alexis, and Nash Wheeler of Pryor, OK; Rowan Smith of Tulsa, OK; Ryatt and Copper Short of Portland, TN; and Nehemiah Sumner of Gleason, TN. Mrs. Kachelmeyer is also survived by her brother, Frank Slominski and his wife, Diane of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. All of Mrs. Kachelmeyer's grandchildren will be pallbearers at her service.

There will be visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at St. Mark Catholic church on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
