Robert Alberty

January 30, 1922 — September 13, 2017

Robert "Cotton" Junior Alberty, 95 years, 7 months and 14 days, of Salina, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Tulsa. He was born on January 30, 1922 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma; the son of Gibson Webster and Katie Emma (Twist) Alberty. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was a proud World War II Veteran. He also served 6 years in the Army Reserve. He married Dorothy Packard on December 1, 1942, and were married for 74 years. Robert worked for the Local Carpenters Union #945 and Millwright #1015 for 50 years and was involved in building many structures around the area including, Markham - Ferry Dam, Spavinaw Dam and the Tulsa Driller Statue. Robert and Dorothy owned Cotton's Café in Salina for many years. He was a member of the Salina American Legion Post 240. Robert enjoyed woodworking, going to Army reunions and family trips to Branson. He also enjoyed holidays with his family, the Fourth of July and Halloween were his favorite. He looked forward to playfully scaring the children as they would come up for candy. Above all, Robert loved his family and looked forward to every moment he had with them. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2017 in the Ross - Mayes Cemetery in Salina with Reverend John Scott officiating. Casket bearers will be Shane Alberty, Travis Montgomery and Brent Montgomery. Honorary casket bearers will be Chace Cox, Corey Cox, Chad Cox, Tate Sorum, Brody Sorum, Kye Montgomery, Gavin Montgomery, Jax Kiener, River Caldwell, Gibson Montgomery, and CJ Cox. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Robert is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Montgomery and Boley Chancellor of Salina, Oklahoma and Donna Bohannan and husband David of Salina, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother in law, Don Stanke of Salina, Oklahoma; sister in laws, Jan Hatfield and husband Bill of Pryor, Oklahoma and Beverly Perkins of Pryor, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gibson and Katie Alberty; his wife, Dorothy Alberty; daughter, Sharon Ann Alberty; son, Bob Alberty; and great grandchild, Stencee Montgomery.
