Robert Ayres

Robert Spencer Ayres, 64, of Pryor, passed away on Monday April 16th, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bob was born on March 30, 1954 in Moses Lake, Washington; the son of David and Julia (Spencer) Ayres. He graduated from Quartz Hill High School in California in 1972 and attended Antelope Valley College before entering the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Academy in 1976. He was married to Debbie Wilson on July 10, 1976 in Quartz Hill, California. Bob worked as a deputy sheriff for 5 years when he decided, in what would become his trademark fashion, it was time for something new. In the record hot summer of 1980, he moved his wife and two young sons to Oklahoma and has made life an adventure for his family and countless friends ever since. Bob worked for a year as a City of Chouteau police officer, then left police work and started a business, Chouteau Auto Parts, which he ran for several years. He and his brother Clark, owned and operated Redhead Valves and MA Systems in Pryor for 30 years. They also made a name for themselves in the RC airplane racing industry and engine manufacturing. Bob was very involved in the community and volunteered for several years as director of the Pryor Ministries Center. His hobbies ranged from cooking and barbecue to fireworks displays, anything that could be made to taste better or be more grand, all with the element of people to enjoy his efforts with him. Bob will be deeply missed by many, especially his family.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in the First Church of God with Reverend Jonathan Dorst officiating. He is survived by his wife Debbie, daughter Shannen and Dustin Amelotte of San Diego, CA, sons: Michael and Jana (Nunley) Ayres of Springdale, AR, Scott and Erin (Reiser) Ayres of Tulsa, OK: Brother Bill & Glory Ayres of Redding, CA., Sister; Gail Ayres of Locust Grove, OK, Brother Clark and Melody Ayres of Pryor, OK. Grandchildren Lucas, Lena and Elizabeth Ayres, grandchildren Parker and Zoey Amelotte, granddaughter Ivy Ayres (arriving in May), his mother-in-law Joan Wilson of Pryor, OK, Uncle Don and Kelly Hall of Quartz Hill, CA, brother-in-law Patrick & Jeanie Wilson of Pryor, OK, sister-in-law Barbi and Mike Hemmer of Albany, OR, and beloved aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
