Robert Burns

Robert Earl "Bob" Burns, 83, of Chouteau, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Tulsa. He was born on June 21, 1934 in Mazie, Oklahoma; the son of Henry Earl and Augusta (Hite) Burns. Bob was a lifetime resident of the Mazie area and enjoyed working on his farm and raising livestock. Bob worked construction for many years, retiring from Utility Contractors after a lifetime of being a heavy equipment operator. He also looked forward to going to tractor shows. He married Ola Mae Cleveland on December 31, 1970 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Bob loved to laugh and enjoyed his family and family gatherings. He leaves behind many memories for his family to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m,. January 19, 2018 in the Mazie First Baptist Church in Mazie, Oklahoma with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaks Cemetery with Matthew Fultz, Jeremy Wassom, Adam Fultz, Scott Wassom, Chris Neal, and Jamie Huggins serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Bob is survived by his wife, Ola Mae Burns of the home; daughter, Robbie Wassom and husband Jerry of Chouteau, Oklahoma; son, Bobby Burns and wife Margaret of Owasso, Oklahoma; 7 other children he raised as his own, Rosie, Rodney, Ricky, Becky, Renita, Ronald, and Raquel; sister, Virginia Atchley of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Augusta Burns, daughter, Penny Dietz, grandson, Johnathon Harless, and sister, Marcella Maxwell.
