Robert Lee Meeker, 70, of Pryor, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 in Claremore. He was born on July 24, 1948 in Pryor; the son of Lee and Thelma (Pettit) Meeker. Robert faithfully served his country and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action and the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. After being honorably discharged, Robert started work as a heavy equipment operator and worked for various companies within the construction industry. Robert was a man of God and looked forward to reading and studying God’s word. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, watching animals, and in his younger years, going hunting. He was a loving father and brother and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2018 in the Lone Chapel Cemetery in Pryor with Reverend Merle Gray officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2018 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Robert is survived by his daughter, Sharlee Lawless of Niangua, Missouri; step daughter, Deb Pilmaier and husband Dave of Chouteau, Oklahoma; brothers, Tommy Meeker and wife Jean of Utah, Donald Meeker and wife Shelly of Murphy, Oklahoma; Stanley Meeker and wife Virginia of Pryor, Oklahoma; Johnny Meeker and wife Tammy of Pryor, Oklahoma; sisters, Patsy Steward and husband Ray of Pryor, Oklahoma and Audra Littlefield and husband Keaton of Wagoner, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Thelma Meeker; wife, Glenda (Graham) Meeker; brother, Aubrey Meeker; half-brothers, Oren Meeker, Richard Meeker, Charles Meeker, and Thomas Meeker; sister, Inise Dennis.
