Rodney Kiener

Rodney Kyle Kiener, 46, left this life on December 7th, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He was born on December 31, 1971 in Champaign, Illinois, the son of Jimmy Kiener and Kathy (Tolle) Kiener.  He grew up in Geary, Oklahoma and attended Geary High School.  Rodney grew up with a love of the sport, wrestling.  That love, dedication, and hard work in the sport earned him the 1990 Oklahoma State Championship, an honor that he cherished, and a spot on the 1990 All-State team.  Rodney received his bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.  Upon graduation, he continued that love of wrestling, working as a high school English teacher and wrestling coach.  Rodney made an impact on the lives of many young people he coached and will be remembered by all as the kind of person you will lovingly remember and greatly miss in this world.  For 17 years, he taught and coached before leaving the profession and starting a new career as a certified welding inspector.  Rod had a passion for life.  He had a love for Christ, his family, reading, studying history, watching his OSU Cowboys and spending time on the lake with friends.  His greatest joy in life was his children, and he treasured every minute he was with them.

Rodney is survived by his mother, Kathy Kiener of Edmond, OK; his beloved children, Madi Kiener-Wiley and husband, Tyler, Kannie Kiener and Jax Kiener all of Salina, OK; brothers, Randal Kiener and wife, Tabbitha of Geary, OK and Josh Kiener and wife, Tonya of Edmond, OK; nephews, Gabe Kiener and Kameron Kiener of Geary, OK; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Kiener, grandparents, JB Kiener and Ann Kiener, and Mearl and Edith Tolle, uncle, Karl J. Kiener and cousin, Darren Tolle.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Salina with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening.  Visitation at the Turner Funeral Home in Geary, Oklahoma will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 2p.m. until 9 p.m.  A Graveside Service will be held in the Geary Cemetery on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.  Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service and Turner Funeral Home.
