Roger Melton

Roger Leroy Melton, 64, of Pryor, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born on February 4, 1953 in Pryor, Oklahoma; the son of LeRoy and Jera Lea (Foreman) Melton. He married Deana Jackson, the love of his life on August 10, 1974 and together they had two daughters. LeRoy and Jera Lea started Melton's air conditioning and appliances in 1951, and in 1985, Roger and his brother, Randy took over the family business. Roger was a proud member of the NRA, and the National Turkey Federation. He was a delight to be with, always positive and lived life to the fullest. He never met a stranger. Roger loved the outdoors, whatever the season was, determined if he would go fishing or hunting. He looked forward to spending time with those he loved most especially his grandchildren and cherished every minute he had to spend with them. He has shared many memories for his family and friends to hold dear to and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Avra Perfoming Arts Center Auditorium in Pryor with John Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor, Oklahoma with Ray Combs, Mike Monett, Tommy Stephens, Mike Gizzi, Walter Stout, Tim Lyon, Rob Rumble, and J.R. Morrison serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Jimmy Tramel, Steve Proctor, Robbie Hormann, Mac Hayes, Ricky Jackson and Joe Richards. Family will receive family and friends for visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Roger is survived by his wife, Deana Melton of the home; daughters, Aimee Richards of Pryor, Oklahoma, Ashlee Hormann and husband Robbie of Strang, Oklahoma; brothers, Randy Melton and wife Connie of Pryor, Oklahoma, Rick Melton and wife Cynthia of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Hadlee Sharp, Hayden Richards, Ethan Hormann, Carson Richards and Ava Hormann; great grandchild, Veston Sharp. He is preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Jera Lea Melton.
