Ron Blackwell left this earthly home and met his Savior face to face on June 25, 2018.
Ron was born in Visalia, California to Ben and Margie Blackwell. Soon after, the family moved to Oklahoma where on any given day, you could find Ron with his 2 brothers, Leroy and James running barefoot in overalls on one of their many wild adventures down the dirt roads of Murphy. Ron then attended high school in Locust Grove where he met the love of his life, his "Miss America" Martha "Marty" Taylor. They later married and began their journey together. Ron was the greatest daddy in the world to his four daughters and later acquired four sons "the expensive way". This paved the way for his pride and joy, 11 amazing grandkids and one great-grandchild. He was a gentle, godly man who has been called by many names; brother, husband, daddy, grandfather, the best pop, and a loving husband for 57 years. He was an awesome example of what it means to live a life as a man of God, a man of strength, a man of compassion, and a man of integrity. In addition to all of this, His family and friends know him as a sooner fan, outdoor loving, front porch sitting, bird hunting, golfing extraordinaire. If you knew Ron very well at all, you were aware of his life lessons. Here's his top 10 list comprised by his daughters; 1. Time is more valuable than money. 2. If you are on time, you are late. 3. Shut the door, are you trying to air condition the whole neighborhood? 4. Do it right the first time. 5. If you borrow something, return it in better shape than you received it. 6. Do not loan something unless you are prepared to give it away. 7. Never follow one bad play with another. 8. You would not have stubbed your toe if you had shoes on. 9. Make a decision and then make it right. 10. I might not be able to see you…..but God can. While we selfishly wanted you to stick around to train up the next generation and share your life lessons, we are aware you are finally sitting at Christ's feet where you have always longed to be. Christ's legacy will continue to live on through the lives you have touched. You will continue on as a man of great influence in all of our lives.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2018 in the Salina First Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Waechter officiating.
