Ronald Dean Vanderford

Ronald Dean Vanderford, born on October 5, 1941, in Parsons, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 83. He was a beloved father, brother, grandpa, and friend, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and craftsmanship.

Ron was known for his passion for woodworking, where he poured his creativity into making various crafts. He had a fondness for attending car shows and collecting model cars, which reflected his appreciation for both artistry and engineering. He enjoyed watching westerns, especially The Lone Ranger. He also enjoyed watching The Price is Right. 

He is survived by his sons, Ronnie Vanderford and wife Cindy of Altamont, Kansas, Rick Vanderford and wife Rexenna of Hallowell, Kansas, Ryan Vanderford and wife Crystal of Altamont, Kansas, and Robby Vanderford and wife Nicole of Pryor, Oklahoma; daughter, Rhonda Gwartney and husband Chuck of Chouteau, Oklahoma; brother, Leland Vanderford and wife Mary of Carl Junction, Missouri; sister-in-law, Sheryl Jennings of Columbia, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Elaine Vanderford; his wife, Carolyn (Thompson) Vanderford; grandchildren, Kayden and Keaton Vanderford; and infant grandsons, Dallis and Hustin Vanderford.

Ron’s dedication to his family and interests made a lasting impact on those he loved and those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at Chouteau West Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, prior to the services, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor. Konner Vanderford, Clayton Vanderford, Chuck Gwartney, Rick Vanderford, Ryan Vanderford, Robby Vanderford, Leland Vanderford, and Ronnie Vanderford will serve as casket bearers.
