Roy Murphy

Roy Gene Murphy, 69 of Pryor, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born on January 23, 1948 in San Diego, California; the son of Willie and Eunice (Gwartney) Murphy. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing, hunting and playing cards. Roy was a simple man that loved his family. He also enjoyed watching old western movies, wrestling, (Raw & Smackdown) and listening to music. He looked forward to spending time with those he loved most, and cherished every minute he had to spend with them. He leaves behind many memories for his family and friends to hold dear and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ray Gwartney officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross Mayes cemetery with Jeremy Cravatt, Jay Coaltrain, Daniel Copeland, Josh Brock, Mark Thornton and Nick Frost serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Roy is survived by his brothers; Billy Murphy and wife Kathryn of Tulsa, Johnnie Murphy of Salina, Ricky Murphy of Wagoner; sisters, Willie Joe Beem and husband Caleb of Salina, Rachel White and husband Alvin of Pryor, Roxie Vann and husband Kevin of Sapulpa; 23 nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents; Willie and Eunice Murphy; sister, Velma Murphy.
