Roy Walden, a beloved member of the Pryor community, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and love. Born on July 14, 1945, in Pryor, Oklahoma, Roy's life was filled with countless moments of kindness and joy that touched the lives of all who knew him.

Known for his warm smile and gentle nature, Roy's commitment to his calling as a minister extended far beyond the walls of any church. His ministry was one of love and acceptance, always offering words of solace to those in need and lending a helping hand whenever it was required. Roy's genuine care for others was evident to all who crossed his path. Throughout his life, Roy found great pleasure in various activities. He had an adventurous spirit when it came to fishing and horses, finding solace in the great outdoors. Roy also cherished his time spent at church and Gospel singings, where he could worship alongside fellow believers and find inspiration in the music that stirred his soul. Antique shopping was another favorite pastime for Roy; he delighted in discovering hidden treasures that held stories from the past. Additionally, he possessed a talent for painting that served as both a source of relaxation and personal expression.

Left behind to honor Roy’s memory are children, Roy Walden of Chelsea, Matthew Walden of Pryor, Peggy Frazier of Chelsea, and Rebekka Walden-Hale and Cody of Pryor; brothers, Myrl Walden and Bonnie of Austin, TX, Robert E. Walden and Jean of Chelsea, OK, Troy Walden and Sharon of Chelsea, OK, and Johnny Walden of Claremore, OK; sisters, Pauline Clifton of Porter, TX, Ada Maner of Pryor, OK, and Sharon Walden of Chelsea, OK; six grandchildren, 10 great children, and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Robert and Lizzie Walden; brothers, James Walden, Danny Walden, Ray Walden, Walter Walden, Carl Walden, and Elmer Walden. 

Funeral services for Roy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Lone Chapel Assembly with Pastor Wayne Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Chapel Cemetery with Carl Walden Jr., Matthew Walden, Eric Walden, Randy Bilyeu, JW Walden, and Joshua Ward serving as casket bearers. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor.
