Ruby Phipps

Ruby Mae Phipps, 95, of Strang, Oklahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 in Pryor, Oklahoma.  She was born on March 22, 1923 in Adair, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Thomas Smith and Nocie Florence (Willis) Smith.  Ruby married Alvin F. Phipps and made a wonderful life together until his passing in December of 1997.  Ruby was employed by Bells Store and then The United States Postal Service. She was an active involved member of the United Methodist Church in Adair.  She loved working with the youth over the years.  She enjoyed gardening and had beautiful gardens throughout her life.  Ruby enjoyed needlework also.  A lovely lady who loved her Lord, her family and her church so very much.  Her spirit, dignity and her unshakable faith in Christ were truly an inspiration. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Benge Cemetery with Reverend Hartlen Coats officiating.  She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Alvin following the service.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.  To leave the family a personal message please see her tribute at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service.

She is survived by her nieces, Phyllis Reynolds of Dewey, OK and Carlene Hobbs of Gilmer, TX; nephews, Bill Smith of Dewey, OK, Tommy Smith of Oklahoma City, OK, Leroy Crow of Oklahoma City, OK; 1 other nephew and 2 other nieces; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Florence Smith; her husband Alvin Phipps; her brothers, Robert, John and Carl Smith and one sister, Dolly Crow and two twin boys whom died at birth.
